Mission and Values


The FOTC will conserve and enhance the natural resources and promote educational, interpretive and recreational programs of Tryon Creek State Natural Area.

Friends of Tryon Creek State Park is committed to the stewardship of Tryon Creek State Park by building connections to the natural world that lead to knowledge and protection of all natural places.

This will be accomplished through:

  • Education programs and events that highlight knowledge of local ecology, sense of place, and aesthetics of nature.
  • Preservation and restoration activities that preserve the natural cycle of the forest and protect Tryon creek and it watershed to allow the salmon to return.
  • Meaningful volunteer opportunities that support a community with shared ideals for a healthy earth.
  • Facilitate recreational experiences that enhance spiritual and physical wellbeing.
