Shared Vision for TCSNA

The Friends of Tryon Creek State Park is committed to maintaining a shared vision with OPRD and being an exemplary public/private partnership.

The mission of the Friends of Tryon Creek State Park (Friends) is to conserve and enhance the natural resources, and promote the educational, interpretive, and recreational programs of Tryon Creek State Natural Area. The Friends work in partnership with Oregon State Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD), and rely on the continuing support of an active volunteer base and membership. Our partnership with OPRD enables us to offer high-quality education and interpretive programs to the public at minimal cost, and to offer resources for environmental restoration and facilities.

All of the Friends' educational, interpretive and cultural programs are community-based, and incorporate and reflect regional ecology, natural science, and history. The Friends believes in maintaining the integrity of the physical landscape, and supports strong volunteer participation in restoration and maintenance efforts. The Friends is a financially and organizationally stable institution supported by an effective, talented staff, a committed board of directors, an active volunteer base and a strong membership.
