Workshop: Hides and Skins

SATURDAY, April 26, 2008; 11:00 - 4:00pm

$25 ($21 for members) (#381);

Join taxidermist Miles Sather in the world of hides and skins. Learn about the process of skinning and preparing a hide. Then try out your knowledge on small mammals to prepare hides for the nature guiding program. Finish the day with a field trip to a local tannery and see where the magic happens!

Workshop: Stormwater Management
Session III of Let Nature Work for You! Landscaping for Conservation

SATURDAY, May 3, 2008; 9:00 - noon

FREE - pre-registration recommended - space is limited (#382)

Join us for an introduction to invasive species and their effects on our yards and watershed. We will begin with a general overview and then delve into specific techniques for stormwater management on your property. This is the third workshop in a 2-year series on using your yard to help promote a healthy Tryon Creek watershed. Participants from the earlier workshops are invited to join us at 10:00am for specific stormwater management skill-building.

Join Steve Engel of the Audubon Society of Portland as he introduces us to the craft of birding by ear. Begin with an evening of songs and slides. Return to try your ear at this exciting way to learn local species in Tryon Creek. No experience necessary.
