Citizen science projects provide an incredible opportunity for citizens to develop an enhanced understanding of specific places in the community. These projects are able to facilitate place-based learning by providing meaningful educational experiences that are closely linked to volunteerism. This hybrid of education and service allows for greater ownership over the process and the Friends have witnessed the success of this model first hand.
