  • Write an original short tale or fable about “Why Douglas Squirrel Hides it’s Food”. We encourage both humorous and serious stories.
  • Entries should be no longer than 250 words. Longer submissions will receive lower marks in judging.
  • The story must be the student’s own work.
  • Please type or use very neat hand writing.
  • One entry per author. Teachers please send us your top 5 submissions but let us know how many students wrote stories. Everyone submitting a Tall Tale will receive a Tall Tales thank you bookmark.
  • Each entry must include the student’s name and grade in the upper right hand corner on the front.
  • Each entry also needs the name, address, city, zip, and phone number of the student along with the name of his or her teacher, school and an appropriate contact e-mail on a separate page, attached to the entry.
