Programs Overview

The Friends of Tryon Creek programming strives to connect people with the living earth.

Using the Park as its classroom, the Friends provide the public with stimulating, varied opportunities to learn about science, ecology, regional environment, and local history. We offer structured education and interpretive programs to people of all ages, both formal and informal. We support the creation and maintenance of accessible, thematic, hands-on interpretive exhibits throughout the Nature Center and the park. In addition, the Friends host cultural events throughout the year. All events are designed to offer new ways for people to relate to the park through a deeper awareness of the natural environment, and to help develop a sense of community. The Friends are committed to making all of these programs open and accessible to all.
