Volunteer Position Requirements

• Age 14 years and older

• Suggested donation of $25 to keep the program running! 

• Time Commitment minimum of 2 weeks and a maximum of 4 weeks (preferred) taking place between June 22nd - August 21st, 2026. 

• Orientation Monday June 15 -Friday, June 19th 9am-3pm (required) 

• Group interviews, several date options in April and May. (required)

Position Benefits:

• Experience in a leadership role during a youth program 

• 52+ volunteer hours for school requirements 

• Resume-building skills such as customer service, class management experience, confidence building and public speaking 

• Training week includes learning our curriculum, working with instructors, communication, how to work with kids, expectations and more! 

• One on one mentoring with staff 

• Certificate of completion 

• Upon successful completion a letter of recommendation can be written by Friends of Tryon Creek Staff 

Volunteer Responsibilities:

• Assist in welcoming, supervising, and managing children 

• Help guide hiking groups of up to 10 children 

• Assist in setting up and leading art, science, and fun activities 

• Help instructors manage groups of children 

• Play games with children 

• Supervise children in all activities 

Volunteer Qualifications:

• Currently in 9th – 12th grade

• Commitment of 2 - 4 weeks of camp

• Attending orientation

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn

• If you are a new volunteer, fill out a short application and look for a confirmation email to access the list of available weeks.
