Join Friends of Tryon Creek and Oregon State Parks in celebrating the public opening of the new Education Pavilion at Tryon Creek State Natural Area - a uniquely modern and culturally grounded gathering space surrounded by an urban forest.
This new space offers:
Increased capacity for environmental education programs that continues the 55 year legacy of learning at Tryon Creek, now and for future generations.
Recognition of the original stewards of the forest through design and permanent carvings from four renowned Indigenous artists.
Sustainable design and locally sourced materials that reflect the forest and environmental values.
The Celebration includes:
The first public access to view inside the new building
An official announcement of the building's new name honoring tribes of the Pacific Northwest
A brief welcoming ceremony with speakers including:
Jessica Green, Friends of Tryon Creek Board Chair and Portland Parks Foundation Executive Director
Katherine Kallus, Oregon State Parks Tryon Park Ranger Supervisor
Gabe Sheoships, Friends of Tryon Creek Executive Director
Tours featuring sustainable architecture, artist works and education program highlights.
