2025 Impact Report
In 2025 Friends of Tryon Creek:
Directly reached 5.100 youth adults and families through programs and events.
Organized over 540 volunteers who gave over 5,200 hours to park events & stewardship.
Welcomed 32,195 visitors to the Nature Center.
We tend the land, teach youth and adults, and make Tryon Creek State Natural Area a place EVERYONE can find or build their connection to nature.
This year’s main accomplishments include:
Programs
Continued the long tradition of field trips and nature day camp programming at the park. Serving 61 schools and 1,550 youth.
Organized 50 small and large public events at the park, including annual events like: Indigenous Culture Day, Trillium Festival, Autumn Amble, and others.
Grew our Restoration programs, hosting 66 volunteer stewardship days, planting 3,000 trees and adding new mussel, macroinvertebrate, plant monitoring and seed collection activities.
Sustained partnerships with Tribes, Indigenous organizations, BIPOC-led non-profits, agencies, academics, individuals, and the general public.
Community Investment
Completed the 3 year process of fundraising and overseeing construction of our new Education Pavilion, Hayash tənəst lixam.
Total donations for the Pavilion Capital Campaign raised over $2.8 million from 388 donors (gifts ranging from $5 - $250k).
Received 2,179 donations, including 608 new members this year!
Capacity Building
Hosted 7 Green Leader Workforce Development interns to increase restoration and education programs while fostering future environmental professionals.
Welcomed 2 new Staff to our Restoration Team.
Completed the Tryon Climate Vulnerability Assessment (link coming soon) that looks at the history, the long-term cultural and ecological needs, the possibilities, and so much more of the park.
